My father was a high school teacher and brought home a Mac Plus when I was in high school. I created a game using DOS code in grade 5. My first experience with Apple was in elementary school - on the Apple IIE. Let me first say, I'm a long-time, loyal Mac user (and defender). I just helped someone set up a 2009 Mac mini, and they are very impressive little Macs. In fact, you can add two of then, since the 2009 Mac mini's have both a Mini-DVI and Mini DisplayPort. It would cost less than the iMac and you can add any DVI (or VGA or even HDMI) display of your choosing. It has the same graphics, 4GB of RAM, and can now go up to 2.66 MHz Core 2 Duo. If you were considering the NVIDIA 9400M model (21.5-inch display), you should look at the Mac mini. There have been some fuzz filters that adhere to the glass cover, but those are not that effective in this case, because the glass cover creates a some space between the actual LCD and the filter. You'd have to not only replace the LCD with a matte version, but also create a new bezel to go around the display. The problem is that the LCD is covered by a thin sheet of glass, so it is not just a glossy LCD. There have not been any after market screen options for the previous glassy screen models, so I doubt there will be one for the new models.
